Infant Program

6 WEEKS TO 16 MONTHS

Little Star’s Infant Program is a peaceful, nurturing environment. Our teachers are committed to meeting each child where they are at developmentally, and helping them discover their own curiosity, compassion and love of learning.

There is a protected area for the youngest babies to lay on the floor and view mirrors and mobiles. There are balls and rolling toys accessible to reach for by creeping, and objects to hold, shake, bang and mouth.

Movement is critical to brain development, and we offer a soft climbing structure to work on gross motor development as well as a pull up bar for assisted standing. There are plenty of push and pull toys to take along when babies do begin to walk independently. The infant classroom also contains several low shelves with fine-motor activities such as puzzles, rings on posts, object permanence activities, and various containers to open and close and fill and empty.

Our emphasis on individual care, paired with our low student-to-teacher ratio, allows our teachers to follow each baby’s own rhythms for sleeping, eating and activities. Our infant teachers talk and sing with the babies, rock them, hold them and support their unique development at each stage, celebrating and sharing milestones along the way. We require a minimum two-day enrollment for this program.

All of our infant teachers are background checked and trained in STARS Childcare Basics, Positive Discipline and Montessori theory and practice. They are certified in first aid, CPR and infant and toddler safe sleep practices, and they participate in continuing education on an annual basis.
